Zercom Clearwater classic questions
« on: Jan 06, 2005, 08:15 AM »
I have a zercom clearwater classic with an ice transducer, anyone using one now? I was wondering do I leave the suppression off and just turn the gain up for a double echo and until I can see my jig moving then or what. I have used it a bit this winter on different lakes and it acts kinda strange at times. I think I am getting alot of ice bounce too.
thanks

I've just started using a Clearwater Classic I bought used last spring.   Not sure about the suppression setting yet but had one great day with it fishing for trout and perch.  Turn up the gain so you can just see your bait (jig) off the bottom.  In deep water more gain and shallow water less.  Without a manual it takes a bit of experimentation to figure it out.  I'm starting to slowly be able to interpret the signals and now have some confidence on how well it can pick up action under the ice.  Hope maybe some more experienced users can add their comments.  I'd love to get a copy of the manual for reference.
