Higgins Lake
« on: Jan 14, 2019, 08:48 PM »
My friend’s and I are headed up to Higgins for our annual ice fishing trip. This may be the first year it’s not safe enough to go out. So we’ll head to Houghton if that’s the case. We have two Rangers and two quads, but may have to leave them behind. Any ice conditions on Higgins?  We are on the south side. Latest DNR report said it just started freezing over. I’m off the whole week so maybe I’ll try the second weekend. Be safe everyone. Maybe we’ll see you at Tip Up Town. Got 10 guys going up.

I saw a report on facebook yesterday that there were permanents going out and quads running around on the north basin yesterday. 3" shore ice and 6" out deeper.  Good temps for the rest of the week. It will only get better. High of 2 on Sunday lol

I think they are going out at North state park. About time to see if the Smelt are biting.
Tried ice fishing with Dynamite, UGH... where's my shanty?

Anyone have any recent reports on smelt or lake trout?
