How many lines in the Water??
« on: Mar 05, 2010, 03:48 PM »
How many lines are you guys allowed in the water in each of your respective states/provinces during Ice Fishing season?  In another thread a poster mentioned "only 12 traps in" before they couldn't keep up so I am kinda curious.

Nope, just a BC and Ontario lad. Yep only one...no tip ups unless you want to use that as your one line.

2 lines here

in PA you can only use 2 lines when you are fishing open water.  if you are ice fishing you can use 5 lines which can be any combination of handlines, rods, and tip-ups.

Idaho (ice)
Five lines with no more than five hooks each and no live bait or shrimp.

This is in favor of the fish - more chance of hooking the ice and resulting in words that turn the air blue.

Interesting, quite alot of variance amongst the states.  A conversation b/w the various departments in charge of the regulations for each state would be interesting in regards to the different theologies, stocking initiatives, long term vision etc.

Can someone tell me why Champlain has such a significant increase over the reminader of the state of New York?  15 tip ups is quite a lot.
