I'll be coming down from UMO to fish the derby, only had half a day on the lake so far this year. Hope to get one more day this weekend before it. The change to the slot limit should make it more interesting this year. From what I've been hearing the lakes fishing pretty well.

Thanks.   I was thinking of renting a place in Naples this Saturday, Sunday and Monday  driving up from Maynard Ma. I don't have a snowmobile and was wondering how the walking would be on Sebago and also on Long Lake.  Any information would be much appreciated.   I tried calling Naples Bait and Tackle, but just left a message on their phone.   Haven't been up that way in 4 years now.

I was there all weekend, not much snow at all, easy walking and 8-10" of ice everywhere I drilled. I had my ATV but those who were walking got around just fine. After these warm temps if there is no new snow storms it probably will be glare ice.

Thanks a million man.  I have jigged up lakers about 10 years ago off of Nasons beach on the great shoal where I have often trolled them up on open water with my boat.  Seeing as it's not locked up there or in front of Jordan's Store, would you recommend the Station or Jordan Bay?  Please PM me if you don't mind.

I don't think the lake is frozen at Nasons beach. Go to  Jordans bay

Yes we did! Caught three by 7 and called it quits due to the persistent wind. It was our first time out to target them. Two were 17-18”, the last was a bigger one that was about 26”.  We tried a bit for some togue in the late afternoon, but I didn’t mark a single suspended fish or schools of bait on panoptix. We were mostly picking the spots to set traps for the night. So when the time came, we could just pull up the bait, step on them, and set them right on the bottom.

Unfortunately with the snowstorm that's heading  our way for midweek Sebago is going to be more dangerous than ever for those who don't know where the safe ice is.  Use extra caution my friends, think I'm sticking with just the Cumberland county derby.  :-\

Foot of snow plus rain following on Saturday...Tough sloppy conditions for the derby. Maybe it will all blow off or pack down by the weekend. Thoughts?

The Wind has been tough at times this year.

We were on Moose Pond Saturday and I could not bring myself to fight the Wind again Sunday to pre fish Sebago, but I will fish the Derby regardless.

So how many shacks at the station got blown into the no go zone? What does one do when that happens? When the wind was picking up Friday night, I saw a couple shacks were heading that direction. I felt I should of tried to at least get some contact info from them, but I had a hard enough time with my own gear on the way back (almost lost my new sonar  :o, back tracked and found it). Walking into the wind, There were several times I had to get down on a knee to keep myself from being blown right over.

Got around to a little pre-fishing on Sunday, ended up with a larger than expected group and didn't moved around like I would have liked to find bigger fish. I had a rough day myself landing only two but missed hooksets on at least 10 fish, however, our group landed 30+ fish total. Never seen a batch of togue that small out of Sebago not a single one over 22 inches, seems like thats been the general consensus this year? As far as those shacks, on Sunday it looked like there was a large collection of shacks that were gathered right around the no-trespassing zone, doesn't seem like any got pushed inside. Pressure ridge lifted up nearly a foot during the day, could get hairy with snow on the ice. Lake was making a lot noise, seems like things are shifting around.
