I am from Manitoba and came home to Hinton to visit family.  I took a buddy out to Greg Lake on Dec. 27th.  We didn't catch anything but missed some whitefish.  Saw a lot come to the hole but didn't bite. Talking to others the bite is very early in the morning so we missed out.  It was a bad day as when I got back home to Manitoba I couldn't find my ice fishing tray with all my hooks.  If anyone found it with a bunch of jigs and live targets I could offer a reward.  The live targets would be pretty useless to most out that way as we use them for the big walleye in Manitoba.  Scared me though as the ice was maybe 10" thick, I followed the truck tracks and seen others out fishing.  There was maybe 8" of decent ice and 2" of snow ice.  I don't mind driving on 10" but it needs to be good ice.
