Title: Milwaukee M-18 brushless compact 1/2 drill

Post by: 3300 on Dec 02, 2019, 06:52 PM: my old ni-cad 24volt 500 inch pound ridgid turns a 6 inch lazer ok. wet heavy ice puts a strain on it so you lift some so it takes less ice per revolution. listen to the motor to know how it's doing. keep the blades sharp. i'd pass on the k-drill because of the blade style is harder on the drill. your right at the point where we try to be for the minimum specs being 100 inch pounds per inch of auger with a 4 amp or larger battery. some tools need much higher battery amperage such as ridgid octane wants their 9amp battery not a 4amp.

it should handle the 5 lazer ok my DW compact will go through 3ft. with a lazer 6

You should be ok with the 5in lazer.....you'd be pushing it with the 6in mora or lazer auger....the kdrill would more then likely be to much.......since it is brushless it should shut down before you would injure the drill.....like someone mentioned you've got the batteries and charger, look at getting a bare 1200in lb drill.

General rule is 100# of torque per inch of auger.

Post by: SteveTheChimneySweep on Dec 03, 2019, 08:07 AM: I just got my new 2804-20 from walmart, $99.00 + tax, free shipping. Noticeably smaller than the 2704 I am using for work. It is just a hair larger and darn close in weight to my 12 volt model. I would jump on the 2804 model.
