I am not trying to defend him, as I do not know what his intentions are. Was he referring to the fine folks on this website as scumbags, or the egg sacs themselves as scumbags? Maybe we should give him a chance to clarify his post before we bring in the guillotine. ;) ;D

Boooo,Off with his head ;D

Sorry fellas. My wife and I refer to them as scumbags. We've tried them and they're awful. Not referring to anyone here as a scumbag - I apologize. Gonephishin69, please refrain from verbal abuse and threats such as "meeting me on the ice". Not very friendly of you in a forum full of gentlemen and women.

Thank you.

Deal.
I don't harvest anything I don't eat, except fish eggs. Those hit the garden for fertilizers for my crop of corn, beans and squash.

My wife and I experiment with them all the time. Lately she has been hard boiling them individually. Takes a little bit of time, but it's well worth it.

Tiny little hard boiled eggs,

 FLMAO :roflmao: :roflmao:

  That's a hoot.......almost shot busch-light through my nose ;D

By the way.......I cut up the sacks into "finger-sacks" fry until they float or are golden-brown!
Twice the bounty, half the kill!  I love them, better than hush-puppies if you fry them right :o

Looks so far it's about 50/50 eating the egg sacks,,so the ones that don't eat them just give them to the ones that do eat them,remember--if you kill it eat it.
Look at all the other foods you eat--Sardines,calamari,shushami,clams oysters,escargo---foods i think are gross,Olives, beets and tuna fish sandwich-

Here is some perch eggs and filets I did yesterday. Use eggs/milk then coat with seasoned bread crumbs. I cook the eggs in oil that is not super hot so they get cooked all the way through. Then use hotter oil to do the filets. Deb said the eggs were gadam great, and she did not eat 1 filet, but she ate all but 1 of the eggs with tartar sauce. YUMMY!!

nice pics.
how could you not want to eat something that looks that good?
one of these days i'll weigh my eggs against my filets. i'll bet it will be 25% or more.
thats a substantial increase in harvest.lots of good nutrition there.

Thanks for this post. Last spring I was searching on the internet to see if you could eat them and couldn't really find anything. I actually rinsed some real well and mixed a lot of salt in with them and tried them uncooked. They weren't good. I was thinking of cooking any I get this year and now I know that there are people that do it.
How do you keep them from falling apart and do you rinse them somehow?

The Mrs. and I eat them from time to time. We prefer the smaller sacks from fish in the 8-10" range breaded and fried. I don't care for the texture of the large sacks from Jumbos, too grainy like cornmeal. It's kinda funny how it's all about the texture...like Peas..I LOVE fresh garden peas, I can tolerate frozen peas, but I'd have to be near starvation to eat canned peas...might as well eat canned mud!!! ;D...WK
Give your son a fish, and he will eat for a day.....teach your son to fish and eventually he'll end up kicking your @ss every time you fish together!!!

Raw eggs, jesus christo, that is just crazy talk. Maybe some raw salmon eggs on some sushi at the Plum House. Maybe next time try with some soy sauce and wasabi, it all tastes the same then.

You are the bravest man on the Shanty. :o :o :o To keep them from falling apart, you have to take them out properly. You start from their bunghole and slit their belly open. Be careful not to punture the sack, that is what keeps them together. You could be the goofiest to, I'm not quite sure. ;)

I have been hunting or fishing almost everyday of my life. The rest have been wasted.

My woman only eats them same day or the next Bucketass, or the day after. I guess they don't freeze well as they get dark and more gamey. I guess if they are not fresh or you cannot get them there fast enough toss them.

Maybe if you got more than 2 or 3 egg sacks a day fishing you could bring them all at once eh??
