First ice

Made a trip yesterday scouting for some safe ice, and found it. Returned this morning, and the rainbows were hungry. Hit 5 fish in about a hr and a half. This season I am trying to use all artificial baits, with the exception of live worms. Today’s success was all on small plastics, over 15ft of water jigged 2-5 feet below the ice. Ice I found was 3in across from all the holes I made. I only went out with a jigging rod and my jawjacker. Three jigging and two off the jawjacker. I doubled up at one point. Jigging rod had a nice jolt, and at the same time the jacker went off and was peeling off some line, both were nice looking. Seems to be a great start to a new season.
