APU...hows the 8" auger workin for ya

still researching ideas so if your auger is in town im able if your willing.just would like to start the project and try it out before year is done.later

Terrible!!!!!   We gave up on it!!!!!!  It just won't work with an 8" auger.  Maybe if you used a Jiffy blade it would work but with a hand 8" it's hard to get the hole started bacause the auger is going full blast all the time. The 6" work awesome still.  It will beat any gas 8" out there!!!!!!

try to make a tip or a center "v" blade like the jiffy
If my center is dull it will not drill.
With a good sharp center + blade i can cut 1\4 inch in one rev. of the bit. That is one inch in 4 turns. fast enought if you ask me!!!

APU GARCIA:
Because of the style of auger  the "v" shaped wedge can't be added, we did weld a "pin" in the center and it kept it from walking and bouncing around but I had to put a lot of down pressure on it to get the pin to go into the ice.

I think with a different style auger it would work great.
