Anyone ever use aerial phots of a lake you've never fished to find weed beds?
-
no...never knew there was such a thing...how?
-
Birdseye view on bing maps works well
-
yup works good to see drop offs and sand bars. Did it a couple times.
-
Google maps did a great job this past fall retaking photos from satellite image. You can tell where weedbeds, sandbars are.
-
cool, thanks guys...i miht try it out. might help out with some summer tourny's

Ive been staring at aerial photos for school, work and hunting for the last 10 years. I don't know why i just thought to use them for fishing.

not as glorious as it sounds. i compete mostly in ny but have been on espn out in the state of ok. its alot of work. there are no sick days nor rain delays. especially not too windy days. its challenging thats for sure, but fun at the same time. learn a lot quick!

but probably more fun to be doin what ya want.i move boxes all day......id take a rainy slow day fishin over that.lol.
-
Over the last couple years I have found myself prefishing for tournaments on less familiar waters by first starting out on Bing.com ;)
-
it would be scary to count my pre-fishing/scouting time. i spend ALOT of time looking at maps before i cast a line! 3-d maps are awesome!

Bing maps (birds eye and aerial) and google satellite or even google earth are all check out from time to time to see if there are updated maps, sometimes you can catch some winter images with ice on them too.
