Crappie trip suggestions
« on: Feb 08, 2019, 08:17 AM »
It is DONE for me in SW Ohio, so I need to go North to chase some crappie on the ice. I like “video game” jigging with sonar (not interested in super shallow water sight fishing). I don’t keep fish, but I’m more interested in quality than quantity. Big gills, perch, or walleye are a nice bonus, but I really like to chase crappie. Looking to go 2/22 – 2/24, and trying to keep the drive to around 6hrs from the Cincinnati area. Lake Cadillac is my default and max range, but I would prefer to find a smaller lake that I can more easily cover on foot with my flip-over.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. If it is a small body of water, a PM might be more advisable than posting the name on the open forum.

Thanks!
Mark

You might want to keep an eye on buckeye lake ice conditions.  They've been doing really well up there.  There should be ice on some good water in northern Indiana also.

I have a non-fishing buddy that has a cabin on Burt, and we were supposed to go up there earlier in the year, but there was still open water. From everything that I have read.....I didn't miss much.
