I'm thinking of purchasing an ATV primarily for ice fishing...anyone have any recommendations, likes, dislikes, particular advantages/disadvantages to any given model? Thanks for your input!

i have a honda and its been great to me !!! [ 400 foreman ]

I bought a polaris sportsman this year for ice fishing, got a snow plow for it and thats the only thing getting used right now.

I bought a new Arctic Cat 400 last year, ATV's are like cars and trucks, you'll get a lot of brand loyal and brand hating people, I love mine, but I really don't think you can go wrong, I think they all make good machines.

i second that wad.

I like my 400 Yamaha Kodiak. Third Yamaha I have owned. Loved everyone of my Yamahas! Tire chains help for ice fishing, and for plowing snow out of the drive. ;D

Check out the Rapid Shack Artic Cat has out new this year.

then go to the center box for 2004 mrp models and look at packages.

I bought the Honda Rancher ES (Electric Shift) because I didn't think I would be able to get my fat Mickey Mouse boots to operate a standard foot shift.
I love it, and would highly recomend it.

Got a polaris no shifting and real true 4wdr. pulled enough other brands out ouf the deep snow last year on sodus bay to make up my mind! :)

Polaris sportsman 500, Fully automatic, independent rear suspension, many hondas, kawis, etc do not, tons of power. It can do anything from racing a field at 50 to to dragging a tree up a cliff at 2 mph. My opinion the most versatile you can get

I have the Honda rancher ES too works great ! Can run chains on all four wheels some models you can"t ! Bad left knee thats why I went with ES .Many good four wheelers out there ! Many :'( :'( :'( to all of ya SHINER 8)

Band is usually a personal preference. If you get lots of snow four wheel drive in a definite bonus. With a 4X4 you'd want at least 400cc engine. I have a yamaha 250 4X4 and its a little slugish in more than 5 inches of snow.

For snow runing get a least a 400. For brand I have a Yamaha Big Bear. It has been ok for me. ;)
