All of the sloughs and the smaller lakes have skimmed over just need the cold weather to stick around a bit longer to make some walking ice.

14 day forecast for Regina is well below the historical average for daytime highs and nighttime lows! Should be making ice 24-7 for the next little while as long as the wind doesn't get too crazy.

Good luck to all the hunters and everyone stay safe on the early ice

Last year was probably one of the earliest times I have fished Collingwood, on Nov 20th about 6 inches of ice. By the 29th there was 8.5 to 10 inches.
At  the north end near the regional park on the same day there was 12 inches of ice. ( much shallower at the north end)
I won't even check Collingwood for at least another 10 days if the weather stays cold. I am going to drill some holes at Delwood (Near Lanigan) tomorrow just to see how much ice there is. I will be walking out gingerly...  My buddy said he would tie a rope to my auger in case I break through..  I thought that was pretty nice of him.
  Be safe everyone..

We  only went out to test the ice. But fished long enough to catch one small walleye.  DELWOOD Had 7.5 inches of Ice near shore and 7 inches near the middle. That was on the 8th will be even thicker now it was minus 27 here this morning.

Any info on the southern areas around Regina Beach?

I'll be walking on with a light kit but I know guys get some big shacks out there on thin ice.

I'll drive out there tomorrow but was hoping to save a scouting trip.

Hi

I was out on Thursday (Nov 21).  There is a solid 5" of ice at Regina Beach off the pier and out 35' to 40'.  Fished for an hour, nothing.  A few showed up on the flasher.  Saw a couple of pop up tents out by Solomon's as well.

Some cracking in spots.  Ice covered with some very light snow that made it slippery walking out.

I fished Collingwood yesterday. Ice looks like it has been broken up and refrozen but I walked out and gave it a go.  There was 8 to 9 inches  of ice and I only went out to a little over 12 feet . I started in 8 feet and had a couple small perch. Moved out a little deeper and caught two small walleye. ICE is rough and slippery. I wear sub zero full foot ice cleats and walk carefully. I think the better fishing will be out a little deeper probably 18 to 25 feet in this area but I will give it another week or two before I try there again.

Fished triple t beach in bay for pike on Nov. 9 and Nov. 23. And we had no luck both days. Only a few bumps. What do you think.

Does anybody fish for white fish any more on last mountain lake. My uncle many years ago commercial net fished for them at one time. I would like to try fishing  for these fish with line and hook.

I don't target whitefish but catch a few almost every ice season.  The area around Etters  and als north of Midway seems to hold a few.

Was out at Regina Beach yesterday and it’s a desert. Drilled probably 40-50 holes from 8’ out to 15’ saw nothing on the camera and only a couple small marks on the flasher that didn’t stick around. There’s a good 6-8” of solid ice.

We don't target them specifically but when times are slow, they are fun to chase after.  We have found them almost every area we have fished on LML and Pasqua lake around lutherland. A flasher is very helpful as they seem to stay up higher in the water column and off bottom typically. Use a small lure and keep the hook sets lighter as their mouths are small and soft. hope that helps.

just be sure we aren't confusing whitefish with tulibee.  whitefish have an overbite and in my experience are caught off bottom more frequently than tulibee which usually seem to be suspended.  i've talked to lots of guys that think "whitefish" are terrible to eat after they took a tulibee home and cooked it up mistakenly

none the less, tulibees can make an unproductive afternoon go by a bit quicker and make awesome lake trout and pike bait.

Took a drive out to Clearview today just south of Glen Harbor. all open water in that area. went to Regina Beach from there and they were fishing west of the main pier about 50 yards out. a shack was even pulled out.

Fished Collingwood this afternoon from 1-5. Was able to walk out to about 18 feet deep after that it was open water. 6 inches of ice. Caught 2 nice walleye and a handful of perch. Girlfriend fell through on the walk back about 200 meters from shore, she's fine.

I fished Collingwood today no open water anywhere that I could see and I walked out over 300 yards  I fished in 25 feet of water  caught 5 perch and 3 Walleye. I did not find any ice thinner than 7.5 inches. Most of the holes we drilled were through 8 to 9 inches of ice . There was a group south of us with a quad and a small shack. Too far away to notice if they were catching anything. Beautiful day to be on the ice.

I made a map of hazards, locations and ice access locations for Buffalo Pound:

Would the folks here be interested in helping me make one for LML?
