Jigging Rap (and similar) storage tip
« on: Sep 26, 2020, 06:49 AM »
Just bumped across this today. Who doesn't have at least a few of these gliding/swimming jigs in a box somewhere? I've got a couple boxes worth that get used four seasons and yes, they can be a pain. I came across the foam insert thing several years ago but the rubber band trick solves the rest. Check it out:

Craft rubber bands available @ Wally World or do a quick search on Amazon or fleaBay. I found these:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obCsYYc9phA, they come in every color imaginable including glow...

I'll have to try the rubber band trick as I usually end up grabbing a tangled mess of multiple jigging raps when I only want one! Lol.

I use plastic coated wire bread bag "twist ties" to tangle-proof treble hook baits. Rubber bands break, and then you have a box full of tangled baits mixed with rubber band crud...

Here is a video I found that shows a good way to store jigging raps.

That Clam box seems the best way I've seen to store Raps. I want to find a small piece of tupperware that will hold 8-12 Raps and spoons for a day on the ice, just have to add some foam.

I wanna see him remove one of those lures from that Clam box. Can't imagine they don't snag up on that front hook. AND does anyone know what those giant jigs in the lower right corner of the box are (the ones put on at an angle)?

Now this just a guess , spoon box is only 3”
 I have 11& 13s 4-4.5” and some custom made that measure 4”s , but I’m probably wrong

No problem.  Was looking at this same storage method and thought the same thing.  We are also wondering how the front hook comes out.  I have seen this guys videos before.  Might try and find his email address and ask him.

Emailed the guy in the video (Brett McComas) and got this reply:

It works fantastic. The front hooks really don’t snag bad at all. Maybe the first couple times you put them in and out more so, but works really well.

Been using it for several years Lean them forward when you pull them out so the hook doesn’t dig into the foam, because the body of the J-Rap is disengaging it.
