New Shack Pictures
« on: Jan 19, 2010, 08:44 PM »
People have asked for more pictures so here they are. With the shack only being 4 x 10 it was hard to put things into perspective. As mentioned before, it has an oil space heater, two holes in the floor with rattle reels, lots of windows for light and watching the outside lines. The walls, floor and roof were constructed of 2 x 2, all screwed with rigid styrofoam insulation. It has a vent on one short wall with a sliding window on the opposite wall to ventilate when needed. The holes in the floor have a plastic liner that I had cut from 5 gallon pails which stops air drafts. Pulling it around with the Alpine is effortless.  Did manage to catch 5 bass, one walleye and a small pike on my last outing.

Very nice job.  What's on the bottom of the skis?  Looks like plastic of some kind.

The skis are lined with teflon. I had billed this with no plans , just designing it as I went along.

All the room a man needs! Very nice place you got there. Hoping to build one next year and like the way you have it setup.

Excellent work, thanks for sharing. Great use of space. What do you use the jack for?

The jack is used for lifting up the shack and putting 4 x 4 blocks under the skis. I have rings on each corner of the skis that the jack fits into.  Don't have to worry about slush and also makes for the initial pull. Even with teflon, the frost will hold it to the ice. The jack also works for lifting up the back of the sled if you want to run the track up and clean out the slush.
