On Lake Champlain in northern VT there is still a lot of open water,  heavy winds have been a problem. A few shallow and/or protected bays have 8+inches.

5.5” on a farm pond today. Lots of open water and sketchy ice around here.

currently good ice is about 16", but with this warm winter weather, there's a lot of unsafe spots...3" here and there.

Watch out for clear black ice...with opaque white ice around it.  It's unsafe for me to drive on the river slough to get to a certain spot I like to fish.
