Geeze, you guys just talk about how you may not ice fish all season and how it's over a few weeks ago, then it gets cold enough to fish and you are worried about the low temps? I will be tournament fishing on Saturday

It wont be as cold here in southern WI (calling for it to be 5F to 10F) so I'll be out. I was out earlier this season when it as -8F with 10 to 20mph winds. It wasnt a good time, but it was better than sitting on the couch

gloves no good, must have mitts[put hand warmers in them if you need to]with the tip ups
i would also put on a pair rubber latex disposable gloves[keeps hands DRY] and will FIT inside
the mitts
YES i will be out fishing this week end

Get these, waterproof, warm and allow for handwarmer packets to be used in them.

Ok zero ain't so bad, but -20°f without adding wind chill is over my limit. That is what they are calling for at 7:00AM Saturday morning here. I will just wait until about noon Saturday for it to warm up to zero before I head out on the ice. At 59 I'm not as tough as I was at 29, or maybe just smarter than I was at 29.

My buddy and I have a trip planned with our families for the Southern Tier in NYS. Recent conditions have the ice starting almost from scratch down there, but this Arctic front might work in our favor. Needless to say, we will be spudding all week, making sure the ice is good and hopefully getting some fish in the process

The main problem with fishing in really cold weather is eventually you are going to have to pee.

I can say this arctic front couldnt have come at a better time.. With valentines day this weekend it will be the perfect opportunity to make like you would like to do something other than fish everyday you can...lol ill fish down to about 15 if there is no wind anything colder than that really just takes the fun out of it for me

Once had reservations for a cabin on Lake Winnebegosh in MN for ice fishing and the first day we were there it was -25 without the windchill. We tried, but the wind was blowing so hard we couldn't even get a jig down the hole because as soon as the line touched the side of the hole it froze there. Then it would break off as we tried to free it. We ended up renting a shack from the place we were staying. Sometimes its just too cold to fish without some walls and a heater.

I'm off tomorrow and it's supposed to be a high of 9 where I am in the UP with stiff winds gusting up to 25 for a windchill of -25. That will be a real test for the Polar Bird and Mr. Heater Buddy, if I can even make myself go out...
