women, icefishing and washrooms
« on: Jan 28, 2006, 09:50 AM »
ok here's a question for the ladies or the fellows who bring their wives or girlfriends...i have a couple of lady friends who want to come icefishing with me, they're both newbies and have never been on the ice so i thought i'd rent a hut to make it easy on them.  now sometimes not all outfitters provide washroom facilities so wat do i do? bring a bucket?  tell them to hold it?  any suggestions would be helpfull, thanks

I've never had this particular problem as where I go ice fishing they have such facilities, However I have encountered this problem when going primitive camping / boating.  I find it necessary to explain the situation, give a few options and let them decide on what they feel comfortable with.  I have yet to have any problems doing it this way.

 7 gallon bucket.... with a big seat... ;D ;D ;D
Has the rain a father?
Or who has begotten the drops of dew?
From whose womb comes the ice?
And the frost from heaven, who gives it birth?
By the breath of God ice is given and the broad waters are frozen.
The waters harden like stone and the surface of the deep is frozen.

I am a lady ice fisherman and also a hunter. When I go ice fishing and need to go I have a casino plastic cup I use. I've never ran into the other problem but carry a small plastic garbage bag to put inside the bucket just in case. I agree with beeverfish- talk with them about it before hand -let them decide....women are pretty creative...heck it's the only time I've ever filled my casino cup!!! Thank you Mt. Pleasant! ;D
24 hours in a day. 24 beers in a case ... coincidence?

I take Relief Briefs along for the gals. They are built so you can pee in them and then close the top and it snaps shut. The liquid inside turns into a gell and you toss them in the garbage. They work great. ;)2

We have one of these, it's called lug-a-loo; you can find them at Fleet Farm, Cabelas, etc.
It's just a plastic seat that snaps onto a bucket.

My wife's sister says to my wife "I can't beleive you use that".

My wife says "when you're six miles from shore and you've been out there for six hours, you start considering your options and that thing looks like the lap of luxury."

Figured I would chime in on this one.  The best thing to do is explain to the girls that they are going to be out someplace really cold, and there won't be too many places to go.  Bringing a bucket is great, and a seat is even better... but not needed.  I would just suggest limiting liquid intake and then hopefully they will make it to a bathroom.  A package of baby wipes is great too, but remember that those are soaking water, so they will probably freeze unless you have someplace warm to keep them.  They can be used in case there is some "issues" when using the bucket.

Okay, enough potty talk.  Good luck taking out the newbies.  I really, really didn't want to go out EVER until my hubby took me the first time.... now its OK  ;)  Gotta love catchin fish that freeze as soon as you get them out of the water!

Of course they didn't.....because the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor  ;)     The German military didn't want to do anything that may potentially bring the neutral US into the war.

Yeah, this thread is kinda funny, but it is a moot point IMO.
