If you throw it down the hole, it messes with your flasher for at least 10 minutes... >:(

What does face rot have to do with ice fishing ???

Been chewing since before I started ice fishing.  But its been 22 days since my "last" chew. Haven't been on the ice yet this year, so we'll see how it goes.

Maybe just on the weekends? ;)

Beechnut or any wintergreen on the ice for me, depends how much money is in my pocket as to what brand I buy

I didn't do it for that long, but same thing here. Toward the end, I'd crave it all the time and then gag as I was putting it in.

But it was a habit thing. It took a change of pace and scenery to quit. I got laid off on Dec 12 working construction, where I went through a tin a day. I finished that last tin the next day at home and chose to quit. And then I spent a week and a half in Michigan with my girlfriend's parents for Christmas. She doesn't approve, so I was forced to go without it. Got called back to work today, and it wasn't easy to make it through coffee break without buying a tin.

Wrigleys Eclipse spearmint chewing gum... and yes, you can become addicted to it too!

For those of you who managed to quit how long did it take for the cravings to go away for good? Oh yea, I was a cope long guy.

I once tried gum instead of grizz. Eventually, I just started chewing gum after the grizz to get the taste out of my mouth.

Ha! I haven't dipped since I graduated from college in 02' and I still have cravings after dinner some nights.  Cope fine cut here.  I guess it's almost been 10 years now.  Wow.... I'm getting old.

They never really seem to go away for good.  Haven't chewed in over 10 years, though every now and then I really want one out of the blue.

The Smokey Mountain stuff helped a lot, I didn't really crave the nicotine just the motions if that makes sense.  Takes a lot to quit, but it's good to do it and leaves more money for fishing.

If you have never dipped don't please ! Been chewing since I was 12 on my dads days work plug tobacco i'm 51 now and 8 tins a week of cope wintergreen. You guys getting sick is from your body telling you to much nicotine. Find your dips getting bigger? Worst addiction out there and this from a guy who quit smoking no prob. 6yrs. ago. But started smokin later in life I was 15  ;D My Dad died 5 yrs ago at 78  found him in his truck on an old woods road with a lipper still in ;)

I had a dentist tell me "one of these days, they are going to cut your face off" I walked out of his office and pulled my can out of my pocket, ready to take another dip. His words were stuck in my head. I threw the can out the window and never took another dip. That was almost 20 years ago. It took a long time to get over the craving, and a lot of chewing gum. I had chewed for almost 20 years when I quit. Quit guys, it will be the best thing you ever do!

chew grizzly snuff for about 2 years and Copenhagen before that since I was 13. Learned the habit of swallowing the spit in the Corps about 25 years ago from one of my D.I.'s. It's my biggest habit.

Skoal mint. Tin a day. It is more if a habit than anything. its hard to work without a dip in. Wish i never started though. Its expensive and pretty pointless, but its hard to stop.

I catch more fish with a fatty in, but then again I don't fish much without one...  ;D I put my tin in the slush next to the hole sometimes to get it nice and cold. The only time it bothers me on the ice is when someone spits on the floor in my shanty. That stuff freezes and gets slick!
