Steel or titanium. No advantage to fluoro that I've experienced. Not that I had any bite-offs, but when I tried fluoro I was always nervous, lest I lose "the big one".

Probably no difference fluoro and steel.

Thank you harrops26!

There is a difference, floro is less visible. I fish some highly pressured clear lakes and I have noticed and increase in flags since I started using floro. Try 60-80 lb floro on half your tipups and steel or titanium on the other half. See which you like better.

After a few break-offs last year I switched  to wire. Will be my first season using titanium.

With the titanium do you crimp the connections?

With the sevenstrand I just clamp on a forceps and do a quick wrap.

I tie a single clinch knot. The key is to not try to pull it as tight as you would mono or any other non-metallic line. It's not as elastic as copper wire, but it is super thin. Even though
you tie a looser than normal knot, it won't slip, and the pike won't be biting through this stuff.

Here is the article that got me started making my own rigs:

The info as far as line might be a tad dated but still a good read.
