« on: Jan 06, 2015, 09:24 AM »
Good Morning

Just wondering if anyone could give a report on Whitebreast on how thick the ice is and are they fishing there?

Thanks

Did they get much snow down that way? I would think there should be at least 5 to 6 inches of ice.

I can't find a structure map for Red Rock or Roberts.  Can anyone help me out on this?

The navionics app for smartphones might help you out a little. It has decent contour lines and will mark big things like stump fields and major rocks.

I'll be out there Saturday.  Hopefully I can find some crappies.  It'll be my first time fishing hardwater down there.  Gotta think the ice is pretty solid after this weeks temps.

Been out on Roberts Creek multiple times this month. The bite has been good for me and no problem marking fish.

Are there any size to the crappies?

Has anyone been out lately? We are wanting to give Red Rock a try for the first time this weekend. Is it safe/how much ice?

Fished Whitebreast last Sunday. 7" of good clear ice under 3 or so of white. The shoreline was getting pretty thin by the end of the day.

I would guess the ice has gotten better since then. Any current ice reports? I'll post one tomorrow if I go.

Was on it today ice is ok.  There was a couple guys that rode a ATV from the ramp out towards the mouth of whitebreast, they said there was some open water out there.
Back in white breast there was some open water near the shore.  As far as fishing goes we caught 1 crappie all morning and it was about 6 inches long.  unless you know where there is a brush pile, I wouldn't recommend waiting your time, but maybe it will change???

was down there Friday afternoon/evening. 6 guys, 3 keepers among us. fish just weren't in that arm. shad schools kept flowing through but that was about it.
BEWARD, a ice heave has formed so if you come from the boat ramp, FOLLOW THE EAST SHORE.
if you come from the dead end road side, the ice is heaved on shore there too but you can get out off of the point.
there is an area of open water near the heave. just go during light and you wont have a problem. beyond that the ice is great.
water is still pretty dirty.

I probably won't try it again. 2 trips and only a handful of fish, I could do better at craptastic big creek.
