I have used truck liners on the top of my ski-doo trailer for the ski's to run up. They work great and the carbides don't catch at all.
This might work depending on the weight of the hut.

Uhmw....5.5"x1/2"x10' = $255.00!! That dosent even complete one ski. Looks like PVC trimboard for my shack. 50 bucks will do both skis.

I got a 3/4" X 5" X 10' piece while in AK last year fer waaaaay less than that.
Last September I got that piece a couple of 10" X 10" X 3/4" pieces and a piece of 1/4" rubber 18" high by 6 feet long for about $70 or $80 if I recall right.
The UHMW and rubber were surplus.

I just walked out after the guy quoted me $30 for a scrap 4" X 30" X 1/2" thick. Biff was busy.

Well after some slow times at work and the daughters dog deciding to jump outta the truck (WHILE ITS MOVING!) I finally got the skis fully done. Went with the 3/4 vynil trim board, really cheap and should work just fine. now just gotta get this pig flipped over so I can start closin her up!

1/2"X 2"  UHMW countersunk and bolted to 1/2" conduit...going on it's 4th season. Scratches on plastic look worse than really is...stuff is tough as concrete, but is pricey.

Friend of mine works for a plastics company and just dropped off some "planks" last week that I'm using as floor supports on my pop up... 6 ea. @ 3' X 4" X 1.5"...would have run me about $400 to order...got these for nuthin'

Kinna a lazy day today but i managed to get the rolled asphalt roofing tacked on and the window installed. Still have to button up the edges on the roof and install a door then she will be enclosed. Trim her out and next weekend im hoping to get a woodstove welded up.

I see your only planning on pulling it one way, your skis are only turned up in the front. When I was building mine, I was told to bevel your skis on both ends. Incase the snow is deep or you hit a drift and get stuck. You can always pull it backwards to get it out without plowing a bunch of snow or having your skis dig in.

Just a suggestion.  :)

Good suggestion rick, i was thinkin bout beveling the other side anyway but because i didnt want my hitch in front of the door. Hate to be runnin out the shanty to chase a flag and get wadded up in the hitch. Thanks for the insight, double the reason to turn up both ends!

Prospector, the dog is good and has better vehicle manners now ;) he was tied in when he fell out and the leash threaded between the cab and bed. Think it kept him from the back tire long enough for me to stop but not before it pinched his skin on a hindquarter, i believe he pulled outta it and that motion fileted the skin off from up under his stomach down the outside to to his haunch. Not sure how many stitches he got but it was alot. Also all his toenails were worn down to the nerves and lotsa road rash including on his testicles!! Hes a tough one though, riding "up front" on the way to the vet he displayed uncomfort but didnt complain at all! After a month of sattelite dish hes back to his goofball ways and now seemed to develope a liking for rubbin his hindquarters up against my legs like a cat only lots harder. Think its cause his injury or maybe hes jyst a spazz. When he shows up i say heeere kitty kitty kitty! Drives my daughter nuts  ;D

Nice work, that things a tank. I am building a 6x8 with similiar skis, do yall think my atv or sled can pull it. Exterior wall are covered with 3/16 luan and the interior will be covered in the same. Im pretty sure it will pull ok but Im just a little nervous that I would have to wait untill more ice to pull it with my truck. I want to fish it first ice with my son!

No problem pulling it with your sled. I pull a 8x14 around with a 570 fan bearcat all winter.
