If you carry your Clam plate by the shaft of the auger instead of by the handles (I do it out of habit), then this steel auger is worth considering over the ultralight for balance.  Use ION10 and it's just under 50 shipped.  I know we're beating a dead horse at this point, but I didn't see anyone mention the steel option.

If I understand your question correctly ...the ION has an 18mm input ...so the NDA3 Strikemaster adapter will work as will most of the hand auger to cordless drill adapters . And yes the ION is just a Green Pistol Bit w/o the auger adapter
