This winter I was thinking about trying the little teeny trebles on my salmon tip ups to try to cut down on hit and runs. The little trebles are like little burrs. I was wondering if anyone else has tried this with any success.

Our salmon rigs do have smaller trebles on them. I think the salmon feel the larger ones too easily and thats why we get strikes on our salmon rigs but no fish until we switched to the smaller trebles with a medium size icicle on a 4 foot mono leader about a foot below the ice.

we a number 12 to 14 teble hook for all icefishing

Used size 14 trebles on all my laker and salmon tipups last year, caught around 100 fish on tipups, only one laker swallowed the hook.
Fish will swallow any hook if you take a long time in setting the hook.

Yeah they are alot less noticable than a size 6 or 8 hook. Works well for me. :)
