my mother in law wanted me to take her ice fishing for a Christmas present as she has never been ice fishing before. time only allowed us to go close to billings so no monsters were caught but a good time was had by us both

a little late with these pictures but the weather was amazing and the fishing was good at the east fork perch derby, even if we didn't find enough big fish to place in the top 3 haha

my ice rod build this year. I used a dh customs al dente noodle blank in 36 inch length and went with an all black look with an orange indicator wrap on the tip

and the best part of building your own rods....... catching fish on them!

She did, she said only her feet got cold but that was due to the fact that she didn't have good boots. I'm pretty sure though that she wI'll have no problem going back out someday. She was catching more fish then me for a while haha

Pulled the Otter ice house through a foot and a half of snow Saturday, only caught one fish....but it was worth it!

It is kyle, it's nice for water less then 15 feet but takes a while to reel up fish from deeper then that cause it's a 1:1 gear ratio, it's a lot like fighting a fish on a fly rod to me which I don't mind. I have been thinking about saving up for an in line with a better gear ratio but not sure which one but am leaning to another frabil. I hope to really test this rod out against some hebgan trout this winter if I make it down that way this year

Heres a few from our Sat night adventure...unfortunat ely we didnt get a pic of the MONSTER STD lost at the hole. Still iced several over 20" and had one hell of a trip.
