I used to live in Tamarac Apts., back in the early 90's. Those are the apts. on Battlecreek (Mud) Lake. We used to call it Mud Lake. There was one year out of the five that I lived on the lake where there were some descent crappies caught, not alot though. There were some descent Northerns in there too. The lake's max depth was 10-12 ft., and extremely weedy!! Other than that, not much to talk about. Take care, Crappie Rob.

Whereabouts on the lake do you find the crappies?

I caught pike there this summer. Biggest was 7.5#.

Going to give it a try on Saturday afternoon.

We used to catch them on the Northwest end of the lake. Very few and far between though. In approx. 7-8 ft. of water. I would fish Powers Lake off of Hwy 19 (Keats Ave.) nice Walleye's and better Crappies, or Tanners. Just thinking about fishing those lakes makes me want to move back up there!! There's no ice here in Northwest Indiana, we had 3 weeks of ice back in December and now it's gone. I also lived right across the street from Blue Ribbon Bait in the Canary Apts. Indiana fishing isn't anywhere near what I'm used to, but what can I do? Make the best of a bad situation, hopefully one day I'll make my way back up there. Good luck fishing!! Crappie Rob

Hard H2O, I see your last name is Carlson. Do you have a sister named Kim? She used to date John Katusky. Just wondering. C-ya. Crappie Rob

Nope, I don't have any sisters. There's a few Carlsons around these parts.

I am related to the Fransens who own the barber shop next to Knowlan's at Stillwater and hwy 120.

Got another question Hard H2O, you said you were related to the Fransen's, is Vicki part of your family? I went to high school in Hobart, Indiana and graduated with Vicki Fransen. Now I know she later moved to Minnesota to be with her family!! When I moved to Woodbury in 1990, I tried looking her up to no avail. Just wondering. She would be 42 and graduated in 1981. That would be a trip if she was related to you. Take care. Crappie Rob. My last name is Sherrard, first name Rob.
