Agreed ..but it is the Ridgid newest it girl ...with 800 in/lbs of torque so it meets the specs ..the Octane line up is dead..I cant in all honesty recommend a drill/platform that is huffing its last breath.

I used the Ridgid Gen5X for years- not perfect, but it still works. I grabbed an Octane cheap last year and put the Gen5x in the camper to spin the jacks up and down. Even if they don't make Octane in the future, your batteries will work on what they do make.

There are 2 augers- the steel and lightweight, composite one. The steel is cheaper. If you get the wrong one, you can send it back. It does pay to be careful on these listings with multiple options.

Bought this set last year and the drill works awesome with a 8” mora. Never used more than half of a 4ah battery in a day. That is drilling 15-20 holes in 10+“ of ice.

Although it doesn't cut as fast as with my 6ah battery I have used a 4ah with my 996 and 8inch lazer and it still cuts great and still 1 battery all day and after cutting 20-30 holes I still have 2 bars of life left on a 4ah battery

So true ..my buddy has the DCD996 w/ 6ah Flexvolt battery ..Clam Plate atop an 8" Eskimo Pistol Bit ..that thing is a beast ..he put a 4ah on it and there is a difference..but works fine . I know the flex volt battery is not suppose to add anything to the party on the 991,996 or 997 ..but it did add something for sure. Plus you get a impact driver to install ice anchors .
