open water anybody???
« on: Mar 17, 2008, 10:18 PM »
anybody been out fishing it yet?
went to ceasars creek in OH this weekend, didnt do so hot, water was 36 degrees on the south end, 41 on the north. Felt like we found some crappies in a drop of on the southern end but could put one in the boat to prove it.
water was up about 4 feet, so the walleye spawning grounds were in bad shape, so no on the eye's.
Sloshed some big buzzers and blades in the coves for muskies, but they wasnt having it either.

Went to a local tailwater today hoping for a few smallies, but zip ther too. Did manage to get some brown trout to slash at a top water, but threw my masterful skill...ok, ok pure luck ::), i didnt hook any.
Sounds like big rain tonight, was hoping to hit brookville lake in the AM.
hopeful somebody is doing better than me!

ended up with 7 inches, and the rain just stopped about half an hour ago.
Good luck with the tourny, might be tough catching fish in chocolate milk!
Least it should help warm the water up some, stir up the spawn instincts.

i don't mind the milk part but when you throw out a 1/2oz jig and pig and it stays on top its tough....more like fishing  a hershey bar..... ;)

All my ponds went ice free finally this morning. But I see this little tidbit on the National Weather Service site.  ::) ::) ::)

URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NORTHERN INDIANA
1049 PM EDT WED MAR 19 2008

...LATE SEASON WINTER STORM LIKELY FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY...

.A LATE SEASON WINTER STORM SYSTEM WILL HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO
PRODUCE SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL AMOUNTS FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY
AFTERNOON ACROSS MUCH OF NORTHERN INDIANA...SOUTHWEST LOWER

I live in the midwest now but have fond memories of fishing in New England as a kid.
