what is going on at bsaytah this year? at xmas we went to fish there but there was not a single shack on the ice, usually there are a whole bunch. we were sketched out since there was no shacks out at all so we ended up going to mission.

There were 15 to 20 shacks out on the ice when we were out.  Most of them closer to the shore line than where we fished from.  Hopefully going to try there again next week when I get over the worse of this d*m flu.

I drove on Friday and yesterday from the west end, starting to rot around the approach but the ice was good to drive. Not sure about next weekend, things are going to get dicey quick and I wouldn't recommend.

I read there was a derby there last weekend and the fishing was good near shore, so I setup shop there this morning.  As I was setting up the guy next to me said it was a derby.  If it was I couldn't see a registration table, place to take your fish, prizes, nothing.  There was no announcement to start or anything, so I just kept fishing.

I stayed for 2 hrs.  Fishing was slow.  I think mostly tullibee were being caught but if this was a derby it was the most unorganized I have ever seen lol

I then moved in front of the hatchery in 30 feet.  Nothing but tullibee.

29 to 31 inches of ice.  The snow on top is not very deep in the area around B-SayTah point and is quite hard.  Easy driving still.  Ice quality was a bit soft due to the warm weather... auger is shavng the ice more than cutting it.  The drive on from the boat launch was still good but the drive off had 4 inches of water at the launch at the end of the day.

Caught 21 in total, one jumbo Perch, three really nice Walleye 6 more small Walleye, typical 2 lb Tuibees and a 5 lb Pike.

Fished 35 to 45’ of water all day at several locations out at B-Say-Tah again... to the west of the point for a total of 4 different locations for the day.  Was on the ice from about 1:30 pm until 5:30pm.  The bite was good from around 2:00 - 3:00 and then slow for the  afternoon.

Likely the last trip for the year given the warm weather coming.

Echo lake was the main fishing lake this winter with a few days at Mission, Regina Beach area and Rowans.  Hope you all had a good year.
