1/19/15 afternoon kankakee county retention pond
« on: Jan 19, 2015, 08:13 PM »
fished from 130 until 5 on a local pond. managed 30 bluegill. 2 crappie. 1 rock bass. and 7 warmouths. fish were caught early on a perch northland UV forage spoon tipped with a waxie. also on a tiny glow jig towards dusk. had to jig hungry fish off the bottom early on and then stick the bait in front of suspended fish at dusk. lots of potato chip gills tho, left some for the coons.

Have you been on the ice since the warm weather lately? Just wanting to know how much is left out there. I live in Clifton

i am heading out tonight. i live on a lake that unfortunately due to management we are unable to ice fish. however i pop holes off my neighbors dock to measure ice. still had a good 6 inches as of wednesday night. plan on spudding out tonight.

Crayphish,

What town are you near to help me/us gauge what the warm weather has done to the ice in various portions of the state. Much obliged :-)!

tight lines,

Jeff

kankakee county. still saw 7-9" tonight. we avoided the inlet to this pond & saw good stong ice. spudded a lot. i mean we spudded the routes out to the tips. managed 5 gills. we could get them off the bottom and that's it.

Thanks for the info. I wanted to make sure there was still good ice before I take my boys back out.
