Had a good start on ice but it cracked up and blew out Tuesday.  If the wind dies down; maybe next week.

YD--I spoke with somebody last night who went through to MQT on Friday afternoon and then back yesterday and he said it was just skim ice and open water still.  Wish the wind would die down.

Fished the head of the bay yesterday. 6" of good ice but only a handful of small perch caught.  A few tents closer to Sand point light but I didn't check the ice there.  Less wind this coming week will help make more ice.

Spoke with somebody this morning.  Ice from Pequaming (sp?) to the Old Mission, 6" - 7", all species being caught. Some targeting lakers in the deep waters too.  I'll probably head down tonight after work and see if I can find some smelt.  Tomorrow for big fish.

DAVE,  I was up around lanse today and they were fishing around the hole bay. must have been 40 to 50 shacks out there around noon today. I talked to one of my customers and he said the guys were telling him that there is a solid 6 inches of ice in the center of the bay. I may be headed up there sunday morning to fish will let you know.

Smelt were a little slow last night...didn't even start getting into them until 9:45 or so.  No trout today, some menominee though.  Goregeous day.
