In the market for a new sled
« on: Dec 21, 2009, 10:48 AM »
I'm in the market for a new sled. At 6 ft long, my old one won't fit in the back of my Saturn Vue. Jet Sled, Otter, etc. Are they all basically the same or is one better than another. My old sled was made by Snow-Ski and is that indestructable  1/4" thick plastic.

I just got a Glide Lite by stikemaster. Very nice, compact and has a suprising amount of storage space. A little spendy but looks like it will be well worth it. Check out my thread about moding a Glide Lite for the auger mount that I came up with.

Hope this helps

I saw those at Gander Mtn. last night for 40 bucks. Almost bought one, but figured I'd look around and get some opinions first.

Jet Sled Jr. for around $30 is a good place to start. Nature Vision has a roll up type sled too.

Hey Folks...     Hi " toddyrotten "

Last year I bought a   Otter 2 .. Mini ( Model # 1110 ) " it is about 44 " long, 22" wide, and bout 10" deep.  It works very well, and  only  weighs about 8 Lbs. ( empty )

It is Light and holds a fair amount and pulls and slides true very well.
When it is loaded I can pick it up easy when full, or with help.... Although  this year I'm making a New frame for it , as I bought a new three man tent this year and the tent weighs 24 lbs by itself.
So hence the new frame, so I can carry even more Stuff now... I hope to finish it soon.. LOL.

I have the Otter small sled and the standard size Jet Sled. No comparison the Otter is much better and thicker, the Otter is around twice as thick as the Jet Sled.
