They are very opportunistic when it comes to feeding. We've caught them on jigs and wax worms last year.

I fish a small lake for Browns and usually the last month of the ice season its almost a gurantee that your gonna get a couple bullhead everytime out. I shake my head everytime we get a couple because they usualy take med shiners 3-6 feet under the ice in 5-15 ft of water. I always thought they were glued to the bottom and not active in the winter. They fight like a dish rag but I will say this, they taste great through the ice, better than open water spring.

Caught em a couple times while fishing a well known cove on Sebago. Thought it was kinda odd, but they were tasty!
Looking forward to some "crappie" nights!

I have caught a few .... and they will bite on just about anything, when the Bullheads start to bite, it's time to ether go home or move the house! I think that there the state fish in IOWA.

My thoughts exactly. Truman, where I live, is near the Iowa/MN border, and if you ask someone fishing what they're fishing for, and they say bullheads, pretty good bet they are from Iowa.
