Prick? really dude?

Take a joke. If you've never experienced any of the things in this thread consider yourself lucky. Having someone with a dog on the ice can be one of the most annoying things. You make the mistake of petting that damn thing and there goes the rest of your day because it won't leave

Was fishing on Honeoye many moons ago and a guy had his lab out with him. Dog kept close to him but would run and start digging at the ice. Guy would go to the spot and drill a hole and jig it for a bit. He said best fish finder he ever had. 8 out of 10 times he would pull a fish from the hole. Was the damnest thing I ever saw on the ice.

I get that you were joking but you call me a prick it's gonna raise an eyebrow... honestly I don't feel lucky for not having problems with dogs on the ice, it's just the norm in my neighborhood for people to train their dogs. I feel bad for all you guys that can't find a lake with piece and quiet, that's a bummer...

My dog is trained to run my power auger.  He drills 10" holes everywhere.  I also have him trained to spray WD40 on my baits. I'm still working on teaching him how to gaff lake trout. I put duct tape on the handle so he won't hurt his teeth.

I've seen people walking their dogs out on Chautauqua, but never somebody fishing with one.

My best day on the ice involved someones dog paying us a visit on Big Bay. We were hammering the perch. My friend caught one 14" long and would not shut up about it all day.

Someone's golden was walking around, my buddy called it over to pet it. That dog walked over, looked at the pile of fish, and plucked that 14" perch. Proceeded to run off down the ice, with me busting my buddies chops the rest of the day. 😀

Since I'm a couple thousand miles away, guess I will take my dog and enjoy a nice day on the ice.

I had a dog come up to me on Chautauqua yesterday. Owner was a mile away. I'd rather not have a dog bothering me on the ice.
