Well I made 1 more trip had limited time wife has DR appt today. Short but fun trip fished from 7-1030 end up with 18 decent fish tight lines and stay top. Side getting scary and changing by the minute be safe.

Yeah those temps above freezing should really help with ice formation. We will be luck to be on ice by the end of January

Seen crazier things. But I don’t use weather bug, accu weather, weather channel or wunderground. Weather channel only as a bounce site.
Here’s accu weather 5* lower. Lol

I've noticed Accuweather runs 3-5° lower than most of the other weather sites for my area, too, and they're usually the least accurate in their extended forecasts.

WU and TWC are usually a lot closer for the 7-10 day outlook in my neck of the woods.

I prefer NOAA. They are the closest to my weather station in my yard. I have an Ambient Weather Station. Don't recall the model though.
I can view the station anywhere on a computer. It's 72 degrees and 54% RH in the house as I type.

Either way I’m starting to see a lot of skim ice on multiple bodies of water. Might have to get a few pics and post some teasers. Lol

After tomorrow's warmup its cold nights for the most part from then on. Come on ice. Can't wait to try my flip top shelter my brother gave me. Now that I am getting old and decrepit I'm breaking down and trying a shelter. I got a little frostbite on my fingertips on Sodus last year. My brother got tired of hearing me complain about my fingers freezing. So when he went to get us minnows to go perch fishing last April and they had all the ice fishing stuff half price, he picked up 2 Shappell 1 man flip shelters and gave me one. Just got done putting it together.  Quite a challenge when the pictures on the instructions are so tiny. Fortunately I found better pics on their website that I was able to blow up big enough to see.  Come on ice.
It's stupendous!  It's colossal!  It's putrid!!

You will not regret having a portable shelter     My fishing time trippled (or more) when I got mine. Find a little heater and enjoy! On cold days I put a can of gel fuel like the ones the restaurants use in a 2 gal bucket and throw off the coat.  Cover it with some wire mesh and use it to warm your lunch

How did Sodus make out with this snow storm?  I heard there was 3 - 4 inches ice before it hit.

I'm in Williamson and I easily have 18+" so I'm going to say the bay got pounded as well

That section is now mostly frozen but its tricky keeping your balance with all the old footsteps and tracks.  I'm with you on slush that isn't froze yet though.  Not as young as I used to be.

Whats the key to finding bigger fish out there? Last year while I was out I sorted thru tons of dinks for a handful of keepers. Deeperwater, bigger bait, keep moving? Any tips appreciated.

In my experience. Best I've done is use a bigger bait and don't drop it to the bottom. Try getting the bigger fish to come up a few feet. If still mostly dinks, move. Maybe not even that far. 50 yds and try again. Some days you'll get a few jumbos and need another small move to pick off the jumbos and keep moving. Every day is different.

Great question. I was wondering the same. Fished Saturday and caught some nice perch but so many small ones. My question is: are the perch ever off points or other shallow structure, or just in the deeper part of the bay?
Thanks for any info.
