it's a long walk ...and  no matter how hard ya try no one here can make it shorter  so  your only other option  wait  till it's a bit  nicer and  grab a ride on a atv .....

Are the bluegills in the middle of the lake now or in the weeds?

I'd like some more info on middle fishing too if anyone can elaborate. Just perch crappies walleye?

The walk is just about a mile. I was out there today from the west side 9' to the north 26'. If I can walk it, most anyone can.  :)

I am new here so sorry if I ask silly Question.    Where can you park to get out on the ice on honeoye except all the way at the south end? I want to fish the center of the lake and the long walk killed me yesterday. help please

Am I wrong or wouldn't going out from Trident make the walk to the trench fairly short?

Wrong...its a long walk from everywhere..no public access anywhere in middle...by the time u walk out of trident around log cabin point it's a hike as well to the middle, but why would you walk over fish just to get to the middle?? ::) ;)

Just came off the lake. Lots of drifting snow. Slushing up on south end. Enjoy.

X100...it started last Wednesday and everyday since about 25 more huts show up and wonder if they can notice 50 huts in a circle on top of the perch?  The bite will die off soon, as it always does on honeoye, and the perch will move, then people will have to search and that will be the end of the mad house.  Those perch are very good at disappearing!

PM's are probably the way to go. Always happy to help out some rookies but not everything has to go out on the hotwire.

Today was a good day.. Mixed bag of jumbos gills seeds couple largemouth and a dozen craps early.. I talked to a few guys that were doing about the same around 2pm. Chilly walk out this morning but well worth it. Six to eight inches of ice where we drilled with a few inches of snow on top. Oneida here we come!!

Walking out of the state launch on the south end. Then heading north back up the lake toward the middle. East or west is all preference but most of the pack of huts settles in about 20-26ft of water toward the middle. It seems strange that the wide variety of fish have been so deep but its been that way for years now. Has something to do with the weeds(or lack thereof in shallower water IMO..

Man i have such a hard time on this damn lake. Been at least a half a dozen times with only catchin 2-3 fish. I went twice this week once out in the 20-26 ft of water and got 3 perch in 6 hours. so i thought bite must just be off today. so went back the next day trien in shallow in weeds and out with the pack in 20 ft and only caught 1 dink blue gill. Then i come home and read all these awsome reports. I told myself i was never fishing it again seems its roughly a 1.5 hour drive. but these reports drive me nuts lol. Im starting to wonder if its me? what types of jigs/bait are you using i may just have to try 1 more time lol

Move, Move and keep moving. If you have electronics punch holes until you find fish. Honeoye can be tough just find them is 75% of the battle. The perch we were catching Sunday in deeper water, were feeding what could have been shrimp  ??? ??? ? and they moved after a while.
I sit for hours staring into a hole.
