I've been taking my friends to the same pond about once a week since January in search of a decent brown and we finally got one. The ice has been iffy in a lot of places, so we found a pond with 19+ inches on it and stuck with it. My friend's wife pulled it up on a bait check and it never tripped the flag. It wasn't much of a sacrifice since it's a beautiful spot, not crowded and the road is plowed to the water's edge. Our worst day was about 12 fish iced and our best day I lost count, but it was all good. I smoked the trout on apple wood and now it mysteriously disappeared.
