There is safe ice, if you're willing to look for it. Was on 5" Tuesday.  With the weather today,  most small water will be good

Definitely believable by me.  The pic I posted Saturday I was on 3.5 inches and it isn't no farm pond.  That was at 7 am and the temp was 5 degrees.  Was really hoping to get up there tomorrow because it's only been making ice since then but the olé lady shut that down.

The reason I said no safe ice a couple days ago is because down in the st Lawrence valley there is significantly less ice. And before today we were having 37* and snow. Not great ice making.. so I guess if your in the st Lawrence river area, be cautious....

Agreed, everybody should be checking before/as they go out. Regardless of reports. Im in the high peaks area

Checked a favorite early ice lake tonight 3" with 1" of slush and 4" of snow. I spudded my way out 15' from shore when I heard the tall tail sign of unsafe ice under the spud "hollow thud". Turned around and went back to the truck. Soon we will be chasing them but I'm not taking an ice cold bath.

Man, getting out there to see only 3" is... depressing. So close but the long term forecast doesn't look too fantastic for making much ice. I'm hoping I have luck at my early ice spot this weekend. 4" and I'm fishin!

Well I was gunna head up and stay at the red top this weekend but looks like my useless buddy's are gunna bail. It's a 4 hr ride from CT for me still considering heading up by myself anyone in the area gunna be fishing had a few places in mind
