The lake i intend to fish is alwasy one of the first to freeze from what i know. The fishinh kinda sucks but its a beautiful lake with its surroundings and a good place to test the gear.

Checking the old forge area Web cams has been encouraging! 4th is starting to lock up, and the smaller lakes are 100% covered. Minimal snow and a high of 8 degrees tonight. It won be long now!

I can find you those "finicky fish" on Sandy FFP. I've got some good perch spots on Chaumont too. Let me know when you are going and if I can't make it i'll point you in the right direction. ;) Cheeks out!!! @)

Cheeks,

I fished Chaumont a few times last year and for me the biggest problem was the walking distances from the boat launch.    Any good places to access w/o walking miles  :-\

Not unless you know somebody.

For years, a bunch of slob ice fishermen came through, parked on lawns, dumped trash on shore and parked outside the designated parking areas, so the town shut down parking along Pt Salubrious, and homeowners shut down the rest.

One guy that used to let ice fishermen park at his place on the tip of Three Mile Point actually had slobs leaving trash bags and taking a leak in his front yard, effectively shutting down his friendliness toward guys accessing the ice from his place...

I've experienced similar from hunters in western ny so don't blame them.   Sad though.

an accident????really???the guy was on less then 2" of ice.i know everybody is itching to get out,but don't be foolish,if you don't care about your own life, think about all the people who's lives you put on the line, firefighters, emt's,cops who have to come rescue you when you do something stupid.
