All these derbies.. Ive only got so much more room in my bath tub. Lol..

How big of a fish will it take to take the black lake derby?? I saw a flyer for it in the store here in town but I didn't read it.

It'll be 10 + for a pike and near 10 or bigger for an eye.  PanFish will be 1.5 or a little bigger.  Been doing this derby for a lot of years and Black Lake has produced trhe biggest pike most years - not all but most.  And when the money gets big enough the eyes come from Chaumont and Quinte'.

NNYice...From my experience at Black Lake, I'd guess a 12 lb'r will come out of there.
Work is for people who don't fish!

Nice!  Those river eyes are a different  breed entirely.
This sport takes a certain amount of character in a man that we all should respect and take pride in.

Yeah i coildnt count how many we gotnthat night. And twice as many drag and drops and misesnon the tip ups. If we would have hooked them all we woulda been about 30 walleyes between 3 guys in 2 hours. Last night my buddy went, i decided not to go. He saidnit was extremely poor and no one was hitting any eyes.

Phil, an 18 and a 15! Wow! Some nice pike right there. You think the 2 bigs came from black lake?

Nah - pretty sure one was from Chaumont and may be one from Cranberry.  Maybe both Chaumont Bay Not sure.

I brought a 10lb walleye that was 27.5 inches but was told by an official that it had to be 28 inches just like the pike and that pike/walleye were together in the same category regarding weight. I kind of scratched my head thinking how a walleye was going to compete with a Cranberry or Lake Ontario pike.  I thought walleye used to have its own category. Looks like the game club got a nice turn out which was great to see.

9lb 15oz. but 10 just sounds better.  ;D The thing was a barrel. Had three, 4 inch crappies stuffed in its belly.

Well - I will check on that.  Not sure why they would say that to you.  It's a rule we have for Northerns.  Nice eye - wish I had seen it.  No matter, as far as the prizes went - it would not have been in the money.  Thanks for the info.  Got any PICs?  And if you don't mind my asking, what body of water did it come from?
