Here's a better picture, the sun was at my back in this one really pulling out the iridescence. Compared to a laker of the same size, it had a lot more fight in it, was a blast on the ultralight regardless.

The real way to tell is the mouth

Salmon Vomerine teeth are small and arranged in a single row along a raised shaft on the roof of the mouth.

Brown Trout Vomerine teeth are well developed and arranged in zig-zag rows along a raised shaft on the roof of the mouth.

Nice fish whatever it is.  The mouth check looks like the sure way to tell.

What are you doing this weekend?

Butchering a cow, a lot of work but man is it worth it. I wont be able to get out on the ice until maybe the 27th :-\  work keeps me rather busy during the week.

My Biggest worry is that when I'm dead and gone, my wife will sell my gear for what i said i paid for it.

Good luck! I'm back to work so I'll have to wait till Sunday. Not a big deal though, the slush will be froze.

The slush is froze here, nice solid surface. 8 pike so far. 33" being the biggest. Lot of mid 20 fish.

A friend of mine is home from California and ways to go up there Sunday. I assume fish close to home but he won't have it. So I guess I'll make the drive and give it a shot.

A friendly reminder to check your equipment before starting the season! Just lost a fish due to the leader snap coming open. Won't happen again!

Got 9 more pike today, no size at all really. Maybe one 30" fish. Checked a few of my good spots on the big river this morning, not even close to ready..

I used to fish Perch Lake quite a bit. I ran a small bait and tackle shop 5 minutes from Perch Lake prior to moving to Connecticut. I enjoyed how pristine the Lake was being open for ice fishing only and not having any camps or cottages on the Lake. I caught many Pike, Pickerel, Largemouths, and nice Crappie and Perch especially late in the season. I caught many pike greater than 10lbs. Good Luck to you!

I lost about a 5-7lb walleye at the hole. Jigging a chubby Darter. We got about 20 walleyes, all between 12-18".. Switching gears and hopping over to a pike spot.

Jigging  :o  Thought you were an all tip-ups guy.  Wrong again.  ;)  Fun catching those wallys on a jig pole with 4 lb. test and a light rod.   :P
