I'm with ya on that. Especially from a place where there isn't an abundance of 40"+/ 20lb+ fish. It could be a bad factor to the gene pool.

If there was any place with an actual abundance of 40+ inch 20+lb fish in the state of new York, I'd be thrilled to know where it was lol. Some place grow some big pike, but I don't know of any pike factories.

Now like Tobin Lake, or Great Slave Lake.. They have an abundance of 20lb fish lol.

Right. That's what I mean. We don't have a LOTW fishery here lol. I just don't like seeing fish killed of that size unless for some reason they will not make a successful release. Anyways, good luck out there today, I'm getting ready to go check a couple places out.

Thank you for bringing up the notion of preserving the larger fish - we are definitely in favor of keeping those genes propagating via C&R efforts. As a result of this concern coupled with a similar concern for trout in the tribs, we are looking at the possibility and logistics of adding a C&R category (or categories) for the 2016 event. It's too close to the event to try to add or change the event for this year, but we are open to suggestions for next year's tournament. The key here is to allow for the release of the fish while keeping the integrity of the event. So shoot us your ideas on this concept and we'll see if we can mold something for next year's event!  @)

We got 3 pike and 3 eyes. Few drag and drops through the day. Somewhat steady. My buddy Terry got one slobby 36"ish fish right at last light.

Nice pick. Really shows how beautiful these fish are and why they are called paper mouths. Or did Buddy rip the lips off that one? ;D

damn man that is super impressive i cant wait to have a trophy room like that some day, alot of hard work goes into that. I caught a 42.5" pike last yr i released only 18lbs if i get a 20lber ill prob do a replica unless i decide to do a replica of the one last season eventually. still searching for a 10lb marble eye for the wall too. the fish you guys catch up there are unreal i look forward to the pics this season.
