Opeechee lake launch heads up
« on: Apr 17, 2019, 10:35 AM »
Just a heads up. Apparently that launch property im assuming isn't state owned.  Showed up this morning to troll with my canoe. Theres a huge project being done by ever source. Launch and lot is closed with signage saying will be towed.  Tried talking to guy assuming the foreman. Obviously from out of state. Very rude could care less to answer any questions told me to come back friday. Boat launch hours are limited until project is done. Definitely no way to launch a boat there right now. Thankfully laconia pd was helpful and sympathetic.  Ended up putting in at another spot nearby. If I didn't have a canoe trolling would have been a no go. Marked alot of fish. Water was 38.4 degrees maximum.  Fish would not take anything they were interested telling by the aggressive arches on finder but not a single strike. Came off just in time winds were howling by 1030.
Will try again Sunday.

I usually do well there with salmon. Nothing big but usually when they are biting it's a pretty interesting day. What a bummer, that is a big springtime destination for me.
Quote- fishslap: I use a variety:  whistlin' bungholes, spleen splitters, whisker biscuits, honkey lighters, hoosker doos, hoosker don'ts, cherry bombs, nipsy daisers, with or without the scooter stick, or one single whistlin' kitty chaser

bows in there as well as large and smallies...heard they're used to be great whites too and I was going to try targeting them via ice this past season but didnt get around to it...although I also heard it's not as good as years past
