Any thoughts on safe ice for Friday and this weekend? Looking to get out on Friday somewhere in the NW part of the state. Hoping the rain/temps haven't completely ruined things.
-
I am not in the NW but i will try to do some runs tonight or tomorrow night to see what my local ice looks like and i will report back. Lets see some reports.
-
I'll do the same in NW RI.
Supposed to get down into the low teens the next couple of nights...
-
I'll get an update and post on Friday Night for some of the NW as I'll pass Waterman and George Washington on the way home. Then I'll spud up Bowdish to get a feel for how thick it still is. I'm sure the edges will still be really crappy but still might have a good platter of mid water ice. I'll et ya know.
-
Checked local ice in northern RI and cove had 6 inches of solid ice.
-
Edges are rough but I found 4-7" of black ice with the lower portion a bit bubbly with oxygen. Plank and fish.
-
I'm with Sharps Plank and Fish.... ;D
-
Same results as Sharps...edges iffy but 5-7" once on.
Plank it!
-
Good to hear...whereabouts..go ing to maybe try tomorrow or sat...yesterday even the half thawed ponds still had 4+inches in the center ...edges were rough and shallows were thawed....In Warwick area
-
We got into the Teens up In NW Rhodey Last night. Has not gotten above freezing today and going back into the Teens tonight.
I am sure we will be fine for Saturday. Friday is supposed to be cold Overnight Also

Got up to the lake tonight and gave a little scout Here's an update. It's 24 degrees right now. Edges are tightening up on Bowdish so I ventured out with the auger to check middle ice. About 5-7 inches. It's freezing great cause the lake is creaking and groaning to beat the band. Still have a good dozen bait after a quick water change, hope they hold till the weekend. If the cold holds till Sat morning, Sat should be great and Sunday should still be pretty good... a little slick but good. Tight Lines All!

Work work work....Thank you for all the intel guys. Im planning on daybreak Saturday somewhere in this Ocean State.
-
This is for Comeonnow....No Damn Dam fishing last week. Needed to keep the wife happy and finish the bath renovation. It's going to be on my Sat schedule. I'll update Sat night. If it's slow... same plan as last week. I'll get off Bowdish and head up to Wilsons. I'll be flying my Ice Shanty flag drop by and say Hi.
-
OK it was 14 degrees when I got up in Chepachet this a.m. Edges have firmed up a lot overnight. I figure if I can't get out fishing i can at least give some Ice Updates. That will change Saturday. Bathroom Is DONE!! :icefish:
-
Good luck tomorrow fellas. I have some clay's to blast tomorrow and hopefully make some $$. Would like a new Marcum Recon 5 Plus.
-
One more Update for NWRI Ice hunters. Edges tightened up during the day today didn't get above freezing in Chepachet. I still would be careful. Spud edges ALOT and Plank where needed.
-
Anyone been by or on wordens this week? I’d like to head there Saturday morning. Wilson had 6-8 inches of great ice for us on Wednesday (1/31) had a great time. Keep those lines tight. BG.
-
wordens is no good way too much open water chapmans is open shore to shore meadowbrook is still fishable dont step on any of the old holes
-
I'll update NWRI ice tonight.
-
canob pond no good carolina trout pond no good locustviile pond some of the bays are fishable stay away from the middle and the dam
-
Came by Watermans at dark so can't comment. Bowdish is about status quo from the other night. I suspect a night in single digits will help the edges some. Spud and stay wary. you should be ok in NWRI, for Saturday at least.
-
Walked on Wilson's today no problems.
5 to 7" of solid ice. Up to 12 pickerel right now wind is starting to pick up
-
Well another skunk at Bowdish spillway. There has to be fish in this lake....Ray down at Teds bait said he used to fish it a lot and had good luck. I suspect before weeds and the deep water drop in the fall back in the 1920's ;D. Doesn't dampen my spirits... headed right back out now to see if I can hit some hornpout this evening. Didn't have the starch last night. Should have gone over to Wilsons with RegBonz3. I report on my night later.

Night fishing Bowdish Report - No fish but a couple real nice shooting stars. With all these skunks piling up I'm starting to feel like the Cleveland Browns. Go Pats!!!
-
Hey ya got out
-
RI thread is going silent.
-
UGH true need about 15 degrees colder and it will pep up again.
-
Lincoln woods still has 5-7
-
Channel 12 said that the precipitation forecast tomorrow may not turn fully to rain in NW Rhodey. This is good news for those ponds.
I am planning to go out Saturday. Not sure where i will end up.
They are forecasting Rain for Sunday, so Saturday looks best right now.
-
Sweet! IT would be great to have fishable ice in Rhodey until March!
-
I'll give a report once we get closer to the weekend. Still looks pretty good out the front window.
