Didn’t think I would be here this year but I am so let’s hope for a real ice fishing season
-
Agreed I would love some real ice to fish throughout the state. I know I will hear all about how if you put I’m the time and drive hours an hours you can always find ice. however What some people do not get is that not everybody has that luxury.

I’m looking forward to getting out on the ice with my son, he will be about 8 months old by then. He seems to be fascinated by dad’s crappie replica mount I just got

I remember my wife changing my son’s diaper while we were ice fishing. That must have been a bit chilly. Start them young.

I expect some of that to happen come January. Frost on roofs this morning in Southern Worcester County.

We drove 100-120 mile round trips last season twice every weekend. I’m afraid to say with gas prices the way they are that’s probably not gonna happen. $78 to fill up my Chevy yesterday. Bait and fuel $100 per trip is to much for 13 weekend 2 trip per weekend. Crossing finger for close local ice. See how it goes

Not looking forward to the fuel bill this year, my yukon holds 26 gallons of premium fuel...ughh
BUT, it wont keep me from fishing where i want.
I know i wont be out as ofter this year with the baby but i have high hopes right now...
cant wait to yank on some lakers

it wont be this year w the baby that slows you down, it will be when the baby starts walking and its constant chasing and corralling that the wife is going to step in on the fishing plans

Looking forward to some quality fishing time with my son.

I’m a CT resident but bought a Mass full year license in hopes of going on a couple shad trips this past spring, but then I too shut down the road trips when our newborn arrived, so fingers crossed I can get a day or two of reliable ice before 12/31 in Mass so I could get some use out of my license! It would be my first time on ice in Mass if I can pull it off, so I’m hoping you guys get ice more than anyone!
-
I too live in CT and get my MA license every year just for ice fishing. The Berkshire lakes ice up much earlier and thaw much later, extending my ice season on both ends. Some years I fish more in MA that CT. My whole group does the same. Definitely worth it in my opinion.

This morning I'm at at the Mountain Top Inn over looking Chittenden reservoir in Chittenden VT and your can see the whole northern end skimmed over with ice.
-
There was snow on Mount Greylock this morning (and still is as I write this).
Come on baby, bring on the cold!

getting close, saw skim ice today ;D
