my 3rd sled but my 1st Smitty!  The others were basically coffins (box on skis and felt all the weight)  This one pulls like a dream, Thx Smitty!!
(the sled is a little far back on the mounts, didn't notice at the time, didn't move at all, might have been because of the grip tape on the cross members.)

my first attempt at a smitty sled..its 2x2x1/4 aluminum tubing..bolt plates were 6x2x1/4 plate..drilled holes on each side of tubing and put eyebolts in..and 2 eyebolts on each end of the shanty sled..just using a ratchet strap to attach to the skis..had it out once in the snow and what a difference it made..

I'm going to attempt building my smitty today.  I think im going to use one of those deer drag harnesses as my pull rope.  My question is, where do I put my Jiffy?  I have a couple hooks that I would like to put onto the sled, but i dont want to make it unbalanced.  I didnt see many mounts, just wondering if you guys just put it in/on the sled?  I was thinking about making a mount on the back where it would lay perpendicular to the skis...anyone see any cons to this?  Thanks!!

perpendicular to the skis? that would mean that the auger would stick out the side. if you go through a trail with brush. the auger my catch the brush. also, if going over any deep snow it will drag the snow. I think you would be better served laying it parallel to the skis. 8 foot lead will be better than a short lead for hauling.

These aluminum framed smitty's are awesome. wish I knew of somewhere that I could get some on the cheap.

I just lay my auger on top of the shanty and secure with a bungee cord.  It's not like you are going to walk too fast to make it fall off, even on a bumpy trail or from the parking lot to the ice, and once you get onto the ice, it's pretty much smooth sailing.  Plus, my auger is the first thing I'll need when I get to my fishing spot.

I made the cross beams wider than the sled so that my auger could go next to it.  Used a piece of wood on one cross member (to keep the auger somewhat level and out of the snow) and then used 2 hooks covered in rubber that u can get at HD for hanging shovels that screw in to the wood.  Ratchet strap everything down and nothing moves.  The piece of wood making the auger level may in time give way but for right now it works.  May try bracing it better next year.

It will be expensive enough that folks will continue to build their own.  Eskimo has one available for purchase.

Finally made one. Very simple and easy to pull. My German Shepard also pulls this with no problems. Made attach the shanty to the skis a bit more simple, since I hate ratchet straps in the winter.

They look like prototypes. Need some anodizing and fine tuning. Boy they sure did employ ljc2tall 's nifty fold down idea.

yeah standard practice when the website is made but not all the content is ready, they just redirect all the links to the main page until the content for the other ones are ready. Best is when a business website is still like that 3-4 years after they have started. Really inspires confidence ya know? :P
