Trapper will remember that 40 years ago there was a property owner who let people access Sandy Pond (Off the side road near what became Brewsters).  Literally hundreds used it on weekends.  People ran snowmobiles across their lawn during late winter and left trash. That access was lost.  Up on Chaumont Bay the hardware store let a few customers access on a property within close walking distance to good perch grounds on Salubrius Pt.  Same thing, people tore it up when the ground was soft during late season.  I pitched a few bucks to Greg for some grass seed to help repair the area but I guess it just became too much hassle.
What a strange winter, fifties by the end of next week??  It should be good for the deer and turkeys anyways.

people are there own worst enemies ive seen a number areas tat let people on the ice from private property only to abuse it leave trash tear lawns up etc. and ten b***h wen it gets shut down sad thing is a few ruin it for the majority , but would never blame the owner for shutting it done or saying no. yrs back a friend of mine let 1 guy park in his drive go threw his yard a week later 3 cars in his driveway and several on the street and the guy was pissed when his and his buddies got the boot

I have a few spots only I can park and my buddies get pissed about it. One buddy rides with me cause of the ease of access and short walk to our spot

Not going to argue about this.  Yes it's a right to do what you choose with private property.  That wasn't the point or statement I made.

Thank you for pointing out about taxes.  We have 874 acres.
Also thanks for confirming the me world of living in fear that someone will sue and we should all be afraid.
Yes,  it is simple as resolving an issue with people who abuse a welcome.
Like I said,  I've resolved issues from people on our property that abused their welcome .

Shame there's not more friendly people today that might want to experience meeting other good folks and rather stay locked inside.  That kid today that wants to learn about sportsmanship might just be that person that will help you out when the tables are turned.

The problem isn't a lack of "friendly people" - the problem is the number of idiots and slobs that take advantage of the friendly people .....Most of the lakes have public access - it seems like what you are "complaining" about is not being able to access the water where you WANT to access it rather than where you CAN access it .....accessing a lake thru public access won't affect "that kid today that wants to learn about sportsmanship".

Friend got lucky and was pulled out of the lake on the south shore late yesterday. If his neighbor didn't go out to light the grill and hear him yelling it might have been a different story. Sun and warm temps eat ice with no snow cover.

Candlestick or honeycombed ice is scary even on cloudy days

Lmao , I caught 85%  of them on an iron decoy spoon with an eye , others on a homemade jig with no bait

With the lack of ice this Winter, the lakes should be "over" flowing with fish. "Even a caveman could catch them"....h2l
