Lost my spud bar today off Chapman if anyone found one. Red Eskimo “redneck chisel”. Long shot but you never know. Anyway bite was pretty good from 8am -10:30. Managed 15 perch and a nice 18” eye. Slush not to bad for walking.

23’ just about straight out. Been having good luck all season in 20-24’. First 40 minutes aggressive bite with a rap. Slowed a bit, changed to a small blue and silver kast master, managed a bunch. Slowed down even more and went small jig with a couple spikes.

3 of us went out of Apps today. 24 feet. 2 keeper eyes and 4 perch. Bunch of shorts. Tough to get a commitment.  Walk was a workout. 2 of us wore snow shoes and we stayed on top of the slush mostly. No bouncing around due to the conditions.

Wow !! 3 fishermen with the same mindset  of fishermen of  50 years ago.  There is the lake lets put on our backpacks , grab a spud and go fishing.  Now if your fish finder, power auger, or heater don’t work or your hut has a hole in it , or your wheeler or sled wont go through the slush no one fishes.   Hardly Diehards..   no offense just a comparison..

Tried the night bite in 18fow and the walk was surprisingly easy compared to the reports. I stayed on the sled tracks and where it may have been slush earlier was frozen over. Steady marks on the vex from 5-6:30 pm but mostly lookers besides 3 pins and 1 15”. Nothing on the tip-ups, had to work for the bites.
I prefer a 2oz sinker for perch...when it hits 'em they won't feel a thing

Old timer said it perfectly!! Mother Oneida has handed it to me many times. But, I keep going back. I’ve never put myself in the Diehard category! Never will! I’ll also add that I’ve posted previously that the Original Diehards were the likes of Oldtimer and the fisherman of his generation and others for a short time after. Most fishermen of today don’t even compare!! 😎🎣🕳

I still do what I’ve done for the past 40+ years , when she gets like this I pack up my toys and move to another body of water until it tightens up , lots of fishable water without the workout 😉

I was out last night. The snow settled a little and the slush was about the same. Hopefully it slushes up enough this week to freeze it all.

Your right on that Larry. No power tools back then either and when it was time to split firewood they karate chopped it with their hand 😂

Made the trek walking from north shore yesterday. Walk was tough, great exercise  :-\. Set up in 19FOW hoping To get lucky and not have to travel, lol. Wasn’t the case. Hiked out to 28 ft and was on fish the rest of the day. Caught fish with Gold rattle Kastmaster, purple jig n rap, and majority from A white slender spoon. Caught dozens of eyes 10-14 inches landed 2 17 inchers and took home 25 really nice perch. Overall a rewarding day for the conditions. Also, saw 1 quad and 2 sleds get stuck throughout the day.
Anyone have any go to tactics to help target bigger eyes ? I don’t have access to a snowmobile or quad so I’m limited to travel wise but still not afraid to walk.
Eyes seems to be extra warty this year ?

 Good job squeaky
Far as targeting bigger eyes no secret to catching bigger eyes , your doing fine just didn’t happen for you is all , you can move around  , I prefer eyes that size to eat
And those perch are hard to beat

I heard Trap trained that beaver on the Dinty Moore commercial.  He cuts wood just like a chain saw. Just watch the commercial and see Trap's magic.
