I and goon drove 200 miles round trip 2.5 weeks ago to check conditions on a few bodies of water , my understanding guys on FB have been giving reports and some were over exaggerated 1 spot was told 4” I checked it in several places 2.5 tops , some was 2” ,
I to have been bit , I’ve had guys tell me My reports weren’t right and I withheld information to keep the fishing to myself

Next Monday and Tuesday night's lows close to or below zero. Low winds on Tuesday night might lock up Oneida. I hope the snow stays off.

Friend said there was just one open strip along north shore. Shouldn’t be long now before there is walking Ice. I had set the date of 3 inches on January 17. Might be a couple days late.

the forecast sounds like it’s going to be windy with snow today , so let it do it now before we get 3-4” of good ice and really screw it up

I took a ride around the lake after stopping to visit with Carl at mad River tackle
There is a nice sheet on the lake but I’m afraid it may not hold do to the wind that is forecasted , some parts of the lake like the east end is open
And the lake has been drawn down but so far not as bad as last season
To let every one know APPs will be open maybe Wednesday , Thursday for sure and he is really well stocked with lures , and he will have buckeyes , as of now he Has fats

well weather report now puts heavy snow anywhere north of rt 31, 1 to 2 feet tmrw, not sure what will happen wind might break up ice which will cause the beach to have lots of shelf ice but not terrible thing or it turns into a watery slush mess and makes decent amount of white ice not all that bad either, ice isnt thick enough to support any weight from snow so dont see snow working as an insulator

That wind just kicked up. I am sure that ice will be toast. We’ll get this snow out of the way and hopefully set up a nice base. Next weekend has some cold temps too…

Thanks for update filet. Drove past east end Friday just before dusk had 4’ breakers went by yesterday bout noon looked like 1” of beautiful ice….. guess not so much today. Goes to show the water temp is ready to go. Looking forward to Wednesday. Hopefully the snow doesn’t F everything up🤞

Not sure how much snow is hanging around Oneida but Pulaski area is getting belted , about 10” so far and still falling
By the looks of the cams Oneida may have been spared

Only a few inches here in Constantia last night and I am 1 mile north of the lake.

It is definitely missing the lake right now.

The East end is gonna have some nice shove ice!
