Fort Peck,  Mt.
Cascade Lake, Id.
I will get to one of them this winter...

We have some of the greatest trout fisheries in the country (on the western side of the state). In my opinion, but I want to go and chase the toothie critters...
Boysen is a great to go and fish, but it's three hours away as well...

I agree 100%...there is nothing quite like this staging area the first days of March in the western basin...let's hope this is one of those years we get ice there!

Anywhere with jumbo perch and slab crappies, maybe a stray walleye mixed in. I went to South Dakota a couple years ago to find them but they eluded me. Trying again this year with a guide. Hopefully we find them!

When we get good hard safe ice on Erie off of NY there's nothing better then slamming some nice size eyes early and then moving for the afternoon bite of slob perch.

OK, enough silliness. In no particular order:

Saginaw Correction: Traverse Bay MI - walleyes
Cascade ID - perch
Somewhere on Superior WI or MN - really giant lakers
Yukon River backwaters AK - giant pike
A lake near me WI - new state record bluegill
Chippewa Flowage WI - 15"+ crappies
To fish or not to fish? That's a stupid question!

I wish I could drill a hole and fish in my office. Spend way too much time working and not enough time jigging

Few years back, when I got too anxious waiting for ice, I dreamed I'd drilled holes in the concrete floor at work and there was water underneath. I've also drilled in grassy lawns, driveways and those little strips of grass between the street and sidewalk. Caught fish in all of 'em at some point. Some of the dreams were so real I still have trouble keeping them out of my reality  ::)

Do you remember what you were using for bait? I'd think that nightcrawlers would be appropriate.
We're born, we live for a while, and then we die.  Sounds like a good reason to go ice fishing.

Northern Ontario a few drive to that you can portage a canoe threw type lakes..  I know of that I  would love to ice fish them..

That and maybe a bay de noc trip.. only problem is it can hit or miss at bay de noc..  plus the fish around here are same as there in verity..  so you know why I am not a big rush to new location type guy..  that's why I would like to ice fish in the gulf of mex.  need a few new spices under the belt to ice fish for..

That sucks. Around here we are on the southern edge of good walleye fishing (NW Iowa) It's the most looked for fish sport/meat wise. Absolutely love catching them and eating them. Nice ones are caught here, but it can be a challenge to find them at times. Most are that 14-18in range with a few 20-22in.  Since they can be a challenge at times a lot of panfishing (perch, gills, and crappies) gets done to fill the time by guys.

Just go about 2hrs or so north into minnesota  walleye fishing gets pretty easy.....almost like panfishing down here. Instead of putting in a half a day to get a limit of walleyes like I do down here, they quit after 15min if they aren't catching them.

IMO the best icefishing walleye lake is Upper Red Lake in Minnesota. A group I go with has had trips early ice (around Dec 19th) fishing in wheel houses about 1mile off shore with no snow cover and a full moon where we caught 100 walleye each in a day. Below is a photo from a trip. They were all caught in about 30min. Had to quit fishing so we could get drinking. Got to the point we didn't even put bait on the jigging spoons.

I would LOVE to hit Erie. A dude that sells ice castles at the iowa Great Lakes goes over there. He has pictures with three guys each holding up 2 walleyes they ranged from 28in to 33in and we're all over 10# +. Claims every trip he has gone on to Erie has produced at least 1 10# walleye

What area did you hit? That NE SD has some crazy fishing, but it seems to be feast or famine. I got my arse kicked the last two trips ice fishing there, but before those IIf was crazy crazy good.
